The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has disclosed a list of 49 local players enlisted in the Gold category for the highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine’s draft. Popular names in gold category for PSL 2024 include Aamer Yamin, Ahmed Shehzad, Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, and Arshad Iqbal.

PSL Season 9 Draft Details

The draft for PSL season 9 is scheduled to take place at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. The tentative schedule for PSL 9 spans from February 8 to March 24, 2024.

Four Cities to Host PSL 9

PCB has decided to spread the excitement of PSL 9 across four cities.

• Karachi
• Lahore
• Multan
• Rawalpindi

However, concerns have been raised about the cold weather and possible fog in Lahore, prompting discussions about the feasibility of the proposed schedule.

Venue Concerns and Suggestions

Peshawar Zalmi has advocated for the inclusion of Peshawar as a venue, assuring the completion of stadium work within two months.

Meanwhile, Multan Sultans, the 2021 PSL winners, have proposed hosting the final at the Multan Cricket Stadium to ensure a full house and optimal ticket revenue.

Schedule Announcement and Retained Players

The official schedule for PSL 9 will be announced on the day of the draft. Earlier, the PCB released the list of retained players by all six franchises, revealing that many big names were not retained by their respective teams.

Trades and Transfers

The draft season saw interesting trades, with Islamabad United trading their first pick in Platinum with Quetta for pacer Naseem Shah, along with players Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Junior.

Quetta then engaged in further trades, bringing back Rilee Russouw in a swap deal with Multan, where Iftikhar Ahmed and the first pick in Platinum were part of the exchange.
